Subscription Information

I purchased the print version of the Text. How do I access my free year of the APIC Text Online?
First, look on the back of Volume 1 of your printed Text. If there is a code, follow the instructions below. If there is not a code, your subscription will be automatically activated within five (5) business days of purchasing the printed Text. When you receive notification that your subscription is active, you may log in using your regular APIC username and password.

To activate your subscription using a code: Click on the “subscribe” button on the top right of this page. After logging in with your existing APIC username/password, you will see a screen that has a field for a “coupon code”. In this field, enter the code listed on the back of Volume 1 of your APIC Text. View an image.  This will return a price of $0 for your subscription. Click “Next” to complete your registration. Note: each coupon code can only be used once. Learn more about subscribing.

How much does the APIC Text Online Cost?
The APIC Text Online is a subscription-based product.  The price for the APIC Text Online is $149/year for members and  $199/year for non-members. For more information about APIC membership, visit APIC's membership page.

Can I purchase the APIC Text Online without buying the print version?
Yes!  The APIC Text Online is available with or without the print version of the APIC Text.

Do you offer institutional subscriptions?
We offer institutional subscriptions that allow for unlimited users within a facility/system!

What is the difference between individual and institutional subscriptions?
Institutional subscriptions provide access for all employees within a given hospital/healthcare system/university/company. All users from a facility with an institutional license will share a single username/password.  This way each user does not have to subscribe separately. Individual subscriptions provide access for only one user.

Are individual subscriptions transferrable?
No. Individual subscriptions are tied to an individual's APIC account, which is confidential. If you are an employer concerned about losing access to the APIC Text Online in the event of employee turnover, you may want to consider an institutional license, which is not tied to a specific individual.

Can I subscribe over the phone, with a check?
Yes!  We are now able to accept checks as payment for an individual subscription to the APIC Text Online.  To pay with a check, please download the order form.

Using the APIC Text Online

How do I use the APIC Text Online?
Please visit our Help page for information about printing, searching, and general use of the APIC Text Online.

I have an individual subscription. Why can't I share my password?
As with any other password-secured website, it is never a good idea to share your password with someone else. This is especially true for the APIC Text Online, as the username and password on this site are the same as those used on APIC’s main website. This means that anyone who has access to your APIC Text Online account also has access to your APIC account.

For security reasons, subscriptions may not be shared -- that is, only one person can login with a given username/password.

What if someone else logs in to my individual subscription?
Only one log-in is available per individual subscription at any given time. If you are logged-in and your username/password is used to log-in from a different computer, the original session will be ended, and the new session will be allowed to continue. The original session will receive a message stating “You have been disconnected from the APIC Text Online because your account information has been used to log-in from a different computer.”  The new session will receive a message stating "Another session was opened with the credentials you provided. That session has been closed."

With individual subscriptions, why is the first user bumped off if an account is accessed from a second computer?
We set up the APIC Text Online this way so that if a user doesn't log-out from one computer and then visits a different facility/workstation, he/she will still be able to log-in. Imagine how frustrating it would be if you went to another facility and tried to log-in, only to find an error message stating “You forgot to logout. Therefore you can’t access the APIC Text Online!” Setting up the security measures this way ensures that you’ll always be able to access your account.

What if I think someone else is logging-in to my individual subscription?
The easiest way to solve this is to reset your password. To do this, click the "Login" button at the top right corner of this page (logout first if you are currently logged in) and then follow the “forgot your password” link. This will take you to APIC’s main website, where you’ll be able to reset your password.

It is important to keep your login information private and secure. Because this is the same username and password that is used on APIC’s main website, anyone who has access to your APIC Text Online account information also has access to your APIC member/user information.

Why am I having problems with skipped pages when I print?

If you are using Internet Explorer (IE) 7, you may experience skipped pages when you print chapters or sections of the APIC Text Online. Check http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973479 for recommended steps to resolve this issue.

With the release of IE 10, Microsoft has begun downgrading support for IE 7. We recommend using one of the following browsers for APIC Text Online: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or IE 8 or higher. If you continue experiencing skipped pages, please contact us at text@apic.org

Why don’t some of my search terms provide the results I’m looking for?
The Search feature finds exact matches to keywords. For example, a search for “stats” won’t find the chapter on “Statistical Process Control”.  If you want to broaden your search, use the asterisk (*). For example, if you search for "stat*" you will find all words that start with "stat", including Statistic, Statistics, Statistical, Stats, etc.

How do I find a specific word on a page that I'm viewing?

To find a specific word within the page you are viewing, type Ctrl F on your keyboard. This will open the Find function in your browser at the top of the webpage. Type the word in the box and Enter. Any occurrence of the word on the page will be highlighted.
