Abstract

This chapter outlines the infection prevention considerations when designing and implementing an occupational health program for a healthcare facility. Establishing a sound infrastructure1 for an occupational health program is a critical component for an organization, thereby promoting the safe delivery of healthcare to patients and clientele as well as reducing risk and protecting healthcare personnel (HCP) from exposure to infectious pathogens and diseases. The focus of this chapter is on developing elements important to consider for an occupational health program (OHP).
